Is 82-0 even possible?

Yes. A lineup that maximizes all five stat categories at once, with no glaring weakness, has a real shot at the perfect 82-0 season. But the engine's non-linear win curve makes the last few wins extremely costly, so even a stacked roster usually lands at 78-4 or 80-2. Hitting a true 82-0 should feel like making history — that is the whole point.

Tip 1: Maximize all five categories

Do not chase points alone. The engine sums points, rebounds, assists, steals and blocks, and rewards balanced raw production. A lineup that is elite in scoring but empty in blocks or playmaking gets capped. Aim for the highest era-adjusted producers in every category, not five of the same archetype.

Tip 2: Respect the thresholds

Every category has a floor. A starting five with zero rim protection or zero playmaking limits your ceiling no matter how much it scores. Before you lock a pick, ask which category your roster is thinnest in and whether this player helps it.

Tip 3: Know your eras

A 25-point scorer from the 2000s often beats a 30-point scorer from the 1960s after era adjustment, because the engine deflates pace-inflated older numbers. When two picks look close, the more recent, more efficient era usually wins.

Tip 4: Spend your skips early

You get one team skip and one era skip per game. A weak first-round roll is a hole you cannot climb out of later, so skip aggressively early. Hoarding both skips for round five usually means wasting them.
