82-0 Salary Cap Mode
A more strategic 82-0 NBA draft turned gauntlet. Every player has a price; you start with a loose budget and roll-and-pick your five. Go 82-0 and the budget tightens for the next level β how deep can you climb before a perfect season is unaffordable?
What is 82-0 Cap Mode?
Cap Mode is the strategic twist on 82-0. Instead of an unlimited all-time superteam, every player carries a price and you build your starting five under a fixed salary cap. Spend it all on three megastars and you will have nothing left for the other two slots; spread it too thin and your team rating sags. The fun is in the trade-off.
How to play 82-0 Cap Mode
Each run is a gauntlet. You begin at Level 1 with a generous salary cap. Hit Spin to roll a random team and era β but only the players you can still afford show up in the list. Pick one, drop them onto a court position, and their price comes off your cap.
Keep rolling and drafting until all five spots are filled, then watch the 82-game season simulate. Finish 82-0 and you clear the level: the budget tightens for the next one and your streak continues. Fall short of a perfect record and the run ends β your score is how many levels you cleared. The game always reserves enough cap for your remaining slots, so you can never spend yourself into a corner.
How the salary cap works
Every player is priced from the same production score the engine uses to rate your team β points, rebounds, assists, steals and blocks, adjusted for era. Prices run from about 5 for role players up to the low-30s for the all-time greats. You roll for teams and eras like classic 82-0, but only players you can still afford appear β and the game always reserves enough for your remaining spots, so you can't spend yourself into a dead end.
It plays as a gauntlet: you start with a generous budget and, every time you go 82-0, the budget tightens for the next level. A season that falls short of 82-0 ends the run, and how deep you climbed is your score. Any budget left unspent becomes a small efficiency bonus to your team rating.
Best Cap Mode strategies
A common winning shape is two or three priced-up stars plus cheap, efficient role players who fill the gaps. Because the engine punishes any single weak category, do not ignore defense β steals and blocks are baked into both the price and the win curve, so a cheap rim protector can be better value than another scorer.
Watch your positions too: a versatile guard or forward who fits multiple slots gives you more freedom to spend where it matters.
Cap Mode and the leaderboard
Cap Mode seasons are tagged on the global leaderboard so cap builders stand apart from classic runs. Climb the board by maximizing your team rating under budget β and if you go 82-0, the cap you left on the table is your edge over everyone else who did the same.
