The NHL and NBA both play 82 games, so the challenge translates one-to-one — but hockey is harder to run the table. A single hot goalie can steal any game from either side, and roughly half of all NHL games are decided by one goal. The best regular season ever, the 2022-23 Bruins, still lost 17 times. Going 82-0 in hockey would mean surviving back-to-backs, road swings and six months of bounces without one off night.
